Autogenic Training (AT) is a self-help technique which can help bring about deep relaxation in mind and body. Autogenic means ‘generated from within’ and the technique enables people to utilise their own capacity for self-nurturing and healing.

The mind, body and spirit naturally work together towards homeostasis (harmony and balance). However, our lifestyles often prevent these homeostatic mechanisms from functioning efficiently. This can often lead to imbalance, di-stress and dis-ease.

Autogenic Training consists of a series of simple meditative type exercises which allow a switch from the “fright, fight and flight” stress response to the “rest, digest and recuperate" state.

During an autogenic exercise, specific postures are adopted and silent formulae are repeated with an attitude of mind called passive concentration. This change in concentration allows a greater awareness of the self and enables the bodys rebalancing and healing processes.
